The best anti aging foods younger looking skin

If you’re over the age of 55, you still want smooth, beautiful and radiant skin. Up until now, it’s been easy to keep the wrinkles, the sags and the spots away but not so any longer. We have to work a bit harder to “get the glow” so to speak. Here are some foods that will help nourish your body so others will “see it in your face”

Fruits: the “berry” essence of youth

Antioxidents, such as Vitamin C can be found in citrus, kiwi, strawberries.

1. Oranges and grapefruits: Here are the 2 best fruits for healthy skin:

citrus fruits are loaded with water so they keep your skin hydrated and a large orange or a grapfruit has loads of vitamin C which is so important for collagen production. Collagen keeps our skin smooth and supple.

Tomatoes and parsley are also great collagen producing foods.

Whole Grains for a whole new you

Rolled Oatmeal is the best complex carb whole grain that there is meaning it’s “low glycemic and it won’t raise your blood sugar like rice, breads and pastas. These along with other high glycemic foods cause wrinkles. Oats also have natural chemicals that soothe irritated skin and stop damage.

Other low glycemic whole grains: Barley, brown rice and shredded wheat.

Fats can be beautiful

Avocados are loaded with good monounsaturated fats that support the skin by keeping it hydrated. Avocados also help your skin absorb the nutrients it needs to maintain it’s young appearance.

Hint: Try using avacado instead of salad dressing and replace avacado for mayo on your sandwich. Avacados add a whole new flavor and texture to your favorite foods! Try it, you’ll like it and so will your face!

Other healthy fats: Olive oil, Avacado oil, walnuts and macadamia nut oil.

Go to brussels or…even better, eat them! Cheesy brussel sprout casserole

Not everyone cares for Brussel sprouts but if they’re prepared right, they can be delicious and nutrious for your skin. Loaded with Vitamins C, A,  and folate. These little mini, mild, cabbage tasting guys both promote collagen (Vit. C) and protect it from the sun (Vit. A and folate). It’s alright, go ahead…don’t boil them, Roast them ro better yet, try this yummy recipe.

other options for your A, C and folate fix: Cauliflower, brocolli, Kale and collard greens.

Grape skins contain an amazing secret ingredient called resveratrol. some people say it slows the aging process but one thing is proven, it attacks inflammation, and may protect against the sun’s UV rays. Grapes also contain folic acid, magnesium, calcium, and pectins all in one little grape. Red or green, just eat some for your skin and your health.

and if you want even more grape benefits, Grape seed extract and grapessed oil are both full of antioxidents that heal the skin and have anti-aging effects. In fact, concentrated grape seed extract is LOADED with resveratrol so instead of eating TONS of grapes, you can get a greater quantity of anti aging property that stops wrinkles and fine lines from forming with just a few drops.

Other Grape sources: Boiled peanuts and cocoa powder.
